Her Royal Highness Princess Basma bint Talal from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has worked nationally, regionally and internationally to promote a wide range of global issues related to sustainable human development. Her work in this area involves the advancement of women, population concerns, children, youth and the environment, and concentrates on capacity building, education and health. Among her numerous achievements are the establishment of the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD); the Queen Zein Al Sharaf Institute for Development (ZENID); and the Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW). Princess Basma also holds a Doctorate in Development Studies from Oxford University. She is an Honorary Human Development Ambassador for UNDP, Goodwill Ambassador for UNIFEM and a Global Goodwill Ambassador for UNFPA.
