Under the patronage of Egypt’s First Lady H.E. Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, Susan G. Komen for the Cure® in cooperation with the Movement and various partners launched various unforgettable events in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The U.S. nonprofit organization Susan G. Komen for the Cure® , which pioneered the use of public footraces to break the taboo on discussing breast cancer and has become the world’s largest breast cancer advocacy organization and source of private funding for breast cancer research and care.

Under the patronage of H.E. Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, President and Founder of the Suzanne Mubarak Women's International Peace Movement, the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) is launching the Arabic version of the 'Progress of Arab Women 2004' Report on January 11th, 2005, at the League of Arab States headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. The aim of this report is to serve as a tool for evaluating the progress and identifying the challenges in protecting women in the contexts of social, economic and political security in the Arab states. The report also revisits existing strategies and programs of action for the protection of women's security, in an effort to increase their potential for concrete change.

“Press Release: International Team of Women Leaders to visit Palestine to Lend Support to Palestinian Women during the Presidential Elections with a stopover in Cairo” The Global Coalition – Women Defending Peace, established last November in Geneva at an international conference, is sending an international team of women leaders to Palestine from 7 to 10 January 2005 to lend support to Palestinian women during the presidential election. The Global Coalition is responding to an invitation by Zahira Kamal, Minister for Women Affairs of the Palestinian Authority and Salwa Abou Khadra, President of the General Union of Palestinian Women. The November conference, which established the Coalition, was held under the auspices of H.E Suzanne Mubarak, President and Founder of the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement (SMWIPM), and Micheline Calmy-Rey, Swiss Minister for Foreign Affairs.
